CVSS Release:
CVE-2026-95693: In MISP, the EventReport::uploadPicture method in processed a caller-supplied tmp_name field by invoking file_exists(), mime_content_type(), and exif_imagetype() on the supplied path before verifying that the value was a genuine PHP upload via is_uploaded_file(). An authenticated user holding the perm_add permission could supply an arbitrary filesystem path as the tmp_name value. The application would then probe that path and return distinct validation error messages depending on whether the file existed, its MIME type, or its image format. By observing the differing error responses, an attacker could enumerate the existence of files at arbitrary paths on the MISP server and determine their type. This constitutes an information disclosure vulnerability: the server's filesystem layout and file types are leaked to any user with the perm_add role without requiring administrative access. The vulnerability does not allow reading file contents, writing files, or executing code, but it can aid further attacks by revealing sensitive file locations (e.g., configuration files, private keys, or other artifacts) present on the host.
The exploitability of CVE-2026-95693 depends on two key factors: attack complexity (the level of effort required to execute an exploit) and privileges required (the access level an attacker needs).
No exploitability data is available for CVE-2026-95693.
A lower complexity and fewer privilege requirements make exploitation easier. Security teams should evaluate these aspects to determine the urgency of mitigation strategies, such as patch management and access control policies.
Attack Complexity (AC) measures the difficulty in executing an exploit. A high AC means that specific conditions must be met, making an attack more challenging, while a low AC means the vulnerability can be exploited with minimal effort.
Privileges Required (PR) determine the level of system access necessary for an attack. Vulnerabilities requiring no privileges are more accessible to attackers, whereas high privilege requirements limit exploitation to authorized users with elevated access.
Above is the CVSS Sub-score Breakdown for CVE-2026-95693, illustrating how Base, Impact, and Exploitability factors combine to form the overall severity rating. A higher sub-score typically indicates a more severe or easier-to-exploit vulnerability.
Below is the Impact Analysis for CVE-2026-95693, showing how Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability might be affected if the vulnerability is exploited. Higher values usually signal greater potential damage.
