CVE-2026-5169: The Inquiry Form to Posts or Pages plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'Form Header' field in versions up to and including 1.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization when saving via update_option() and lack of output escaping when displaying the stored value. The vulnerability exists in two locations: (1) the plugin settings page at inq_form.php line 180 where the value is echoed into an HTML attribute without esc_attr(), and (2) the front-end shortcode output at inquery_form_to_posts_or_pages.php line 139 where the value is output in HTML content without esc_html(). This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with administrator-level access to inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses the plugin settings page or views a page containing the [inquiry_form] shortcode.
The exploitability of CVE-2026-5169 depends on two key factors: attack complexity (the level of effort required to execute an exploit) and privileges required (the access level an attacker needs).
The exploitability of CVE-2026-5169 is influenced by multiple factors. Security teams should analyze system configurations and apply appropriate countermeasures to mitigate threats.
A lower complexity and fewer privilege requirements make exploitation easier. Security teams should evaluate these aspects to determine the urgency of mitigation strategies, such as patch management and access control policies.
Attack Complexity (AC) measures the difficulty in executing an exploit. A high AC means that specific conditions must be met, making an attack more challenging, while a low AC means the vulnerability can be exploited with minimal effort.
Privileges Required (PR) determine the level of system access necessary for an attack. Vulnerabilities requiring no privileges are more accessible to attackers, whereas high privilege requirements limit exploitation to authorized users with elevated access.
Above is the CVSS Sub-score Breakdown for CVE-2026-5169, illustrating how Base, Impact, and Exploitability factors combine to form the overall severity rating. A higher sub-score typically indicates a more severe or easier-to-exploit vulnerability.
Below is the Impact Analysis for CVE-2026-5169, showing how Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability might be affected if the vulnerability is exploited. Higher values usually signal greater potential damage.
