CVE-2026-101935: The Echo Knowledge Base – Documentation, FAQs, Chat & Smart Search plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the 'new_kb_config' parameter (specifically the article-mobile-break-point-v2 key, among other config keys interpolated into the <style> element) in versions up to, and including, 17.214.0 This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in EPKB_Frontend_Editor::fe_preview_config() and EPKB_Articles_Setup: on every knowledge base article page view, when the request supplies epkb_fe_reload_mode=on, an attacker-controlled JSON blob is merged over the stored KB configuration and several values are concatenated directly into a stylesheet emitted inside a literal <style> element without escaping (minify_css() does not strip <, > or /). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user (with Editor-level access or above, holding the manage_categories capability, or an Administrator) into performing an action such as clicking on a specially crafted link.
The exploitability of CVE-2026-101935 depends on two key factors: attack complexity (the level of effort required to execute an exploit) and privileges required (the access level an attacker needs).
With low attack complexity and no required privileges, CVE-2026-101935 is an easy target for cybercriminals. Organizations should prioritize immediate mitigation measures to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
A lower complexity and fewer privilege requirements make exploitation easier. Security teams should evaluate these aspects to determine the urgency of mitigation strategies, such as patch management and access control policies.
Attack Complexity (AC) measures the difficulty in executing an exploit. A high AC means that specific conditions must be met, making an attack more challenging, while a low AC means the vulnerability can be exploited with minimal effort.
Privileges Required (PR) determine the level of system access necessary for an attack. Vulnerabilities requiring no privileges are more accessible to attackers, whereas high privilege requirements limit exploitation to authorized users with elevated access.
Above is the CVSS Sub-score Breakdown for CVE-2026-101935, illustrating how Base, Impact, and Exploitability factors combine to form the overall severity rating. A higher sub-score typically indicates a more severe or easier-to-exploit vulnerability.
Below is the Impact Analysis for CVE-2026-101935, showing how Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability might be affected if the vulnerability is exploited. Higher values usually signal greater potential damage.
