CVE-2025-33023 Vulnerability Summary

CVE-2025-33023: A vulnerability has been identified in RUGGEDCOM ROX MX5000 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX MX5000RE (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1400 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1500 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1501 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1510 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1511 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1512 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1524 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX1536 (All versions), RUGGEDCOM ROX RX5000 (All versions). The affected devices do not properly enforce the restriction of files that can be uploaded from the web interface. This could allow an authenticated remote attacker with high privileges in the web interface to upload arbitrary files.

Assessing the Risk of CVE-2025-33023

Access Complexity Graph

The exploitability of CVE-2025-33023 depends on two key factors: attack complexity (the level of effort required to execute an exploit) and privileges required (the access level an attacker needs).

Exploitability Analysis for CVE-2025-33023

The exploitability of CVE-2025-33023 is influenced by multiple factors. Security teams should analyze system configurations and apply appropriate countermeasures to mitigate threats.

Understanding AC and PR

A lower complexity and fewer privilege requirements make exploitation easier. Security teams should evaluate these aspects to determine the urgency of mitigation strategies, such as patch management and access control policies.

Attack Complexity (AC) measures the difficulty in executing an exploit. A high AC means that specific conditions must be met, making an attack more challenging, while a low AC means the vulnerability can be exploited with minimal effort.

Privileges Required (PR) determine the level of system access necessary for an attack. Vulnerabilities requiring no privileges are more accessible to attackers, whereas high privilege requirements limit exploitation to authorized users with elevated access.

CVSS Score Breakdown Chart

Above is the CVSS Sub-score Breakdown for CVE-2025-33023, illustrating how Base, Impact, and Exploitability factors combine to form the overall severity rating. A higher sub-score typically indicates a more severe or easier-to-exploit vulnerability.

CIA Impact Analysis

Below is the Impact Analysis for CVE-2025-33023, showing how Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability might be affected if the vulnerability is exploited. Higher values usually signal greater potential damage.

  • Confidentiality: None
CVE-2025-33023 has no significant impact on data confidentiality.
  • Integrity: Low
Exploiting CVE-2025-33023 may cause minor changes to data without severely impacting its accuracy.
  • Availability: None
CVE-2025-33023 does not impact system availability.

CAPEC Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification

  • Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs CAPEC-1 In applications, particularly web applications, access to functionality is mitigated by an authorization framework. This framework maps Access Control Lists (ACLs) to elements of the application's functionality; particularly URL's for web apps. In the case that the administrator failed to specify an ACL for a particular element, an attacker may be able to access it with impunity. An attacker with the ability to access functionality not properly constrained by ACLs can obtain sensitive information and possibly compromise the entire application. Such an attacker can access resources that must be available only to users at a higher privilege level, can access management sections of the application, or can run queries for data that they otherwise not supposed to.
